Auscision Models – The Overland Passenger Train
Step aboard a true icon of Australian rail history with Auscision Models’ highly detailed HO scale reproduction of The Overland — the legendary interstate passenger train that has connected Melbourne and Adelaide for over 135 years. Capturing the distinctive style and evolution of this historic service, these models are a must-have for collectors and model railway enthusiasts seeking accuracy, realism, and operational performance.
Each Overland carriage is ready-to-run out of the box and packed with fine detail. From the plastic ABS one-piece body and roof to the metal handrails, brake piping, and POM/Delrin air hoses, every element is designed for authenticity and durability. The underframes are highly detailed, and the bogies include intricate brake equipment and fine bogie printing, reflecting the real-life engineering of the train.
Auscision has tooled over 22 unique body versions to capture different eras and liveries of The Overland, making it easy to model specific historical periods or liveries used across the decades. The models also feature aqua-tinted window glazing for that realistic glass effect, and many carriages include fully detailed interiors, depending on the prototype. On select cars, you'll also find operating LED red tail lights and simulated blind details for added visual realism.
These models ride on 36-inch metal disc wheels (RP25-110) and are equipped with scale-size metal knuckle couplers for reliable operation. The diaphragms between cars are operational, providing smooth and realistic transitions. The carriages are built to perform on a variety of layouts, capable of running on code 70, 83, and 100 rail, with a recommended minimum radius of 24 inches (or 18 inches with long shank couplers fitted).
The range also includes a power van fitted with a 21-pin DCC socket and speaker enclosure, making it easy to install sound decoders for enhanced realism. Whether you're a historian recreating the classic Southern Cross to Keswick journey or a modeller looking to enhance your layout with a true Aussie legend, Auscision’s Overland is one of the finest HO scale representations available today.
