These are well formed in grey plastic on five well laid out sprues.
Surface detail features fine recessed panel lines. There is no evidence of moulding flash or externally visible ejector pin marks.
This is the first release in this scale of an Eduard tooled Spitfire kit and includes a multitude of parts for optional versions of the aircraft, many of which are not used in this release.
These include alternate control panels (one with moulded detail plus one blank panel for decal or photo etch placement); three, four and five spoke wheel hubs; different sized tyres; standard or fluted exhausts; different structural frames for the pilot’s seat; standard and broad chord rudders; alternate tailplanes; main undercarriage doors, tall or short tailwheels; three different cockpit access doors; standard or extended wingtips; and a choice of canopy transparencies.
Photo etch is used extensively in the cockpit which includes the seating, control column, instrumentation, oxygen bottles, gunsight, and rudder pedals.
It is also used for the radiator and carburettor intakes as well as for the nicely detailed undercarriage assemblies.
External stores include underwing 250lb bombs whilst provision is made for either centreline slipper fuel tanks or a conventional rack mounted tank.
The transparencies are thin and clear, and can be portrayed in closed or open positions.
