Frequently Asked Questions

An rc car servo is a device that helps control the steering and speed of an rc car. It does this by converting the electrical signal from the rc car's controller into a mechanical force that can be used to steer or drive the car. The servo contains a motor, gearbox, and sensor that allow it to accurately translate the electrical signals from the controller into precise movements of the car's steering and throttle.

Servos for radio control models can go from as little as $14.99 all the way $250. The prices depends from the application. The size and strength are the key parameter to choose a servo.

The selection of the correct rc servo is very critical. If you choose the wrong servo it may not work or fail very quickly.

The first aspect to consider is the actual space that is available within your vehicle. There are few standard sizes servos in the market.

The second factor is the strength. How much torque can the servo generate? This is often defined in KG. For pure indication an entry level rc car such a Tamiya Hornet can work just fine with 4-5kg servo. A stronger servo would make the steering moving faster and give a much better response. A good average torque for a 1/10 scale buggy can sit at around 10kg while for the 1/8 buggies it is more 20kg.
